Leaning on Jesus (outline)
How as Christians do we get a healthy understanding of sexuality?
Matthew 19:4-6New International Version (NIV)
4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female, 5 and said, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
There is no way to engage in sex
without the heart being involved on some level.
There will never really be anything invented to assure safe sex because they will never be able to make a condom to protect the heart!
Proverbs 3:5-6New International Version (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
We need to be exercising self-denial and dependency on the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:12-13
12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial.“I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
1 Corinthians 6:18 New International Version (NIV)
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
Because it damages the heart.
Will we allow God to speak into our lives??
- If you’re not married and you are having sex stop having sex.
- If you’re married and you are not having sex start having sex.
